Travel and Hospitality Jobs Surge in a Year
In the last year, the travel and hospitality sector in India has experienced substantial job growth. Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad emerged as the frontrunners in this trend. The data indicates a substantial increase in job openings and hirings, signifying a strong recovery from the challenges posed by the pandemic.
According to Skift's report, job listings in the hospitality industry saw a 66 percent increase between June 2022 and June 2023. The report cited data from the global job platform Indeed. It also highlighted a substantial recovery from the steep declines experienced during the pandemic. The report revealed that travel agentsβ roles were the most sought-after positions, leading in terms of job opportunities over the previous year, as indicated in Skift's findings.
The report further states that approximately 30 cities spanning 15 states are currently under consideration for transformation into sustainable destinations. The Ministry of Tourism's Swadesh Darshan 2.0 initiative, which commenced in January 2023, is reportedly responsible for this selection process, as informed by Skift.
