SIAM’s Auto Expo and ACMA’s Components Show Postponed
Auto Expo is India’s biggest trade fair showcasing advancements in automobile industry. Auto Expo 2022, scheduled from February 2 - 9, 2022, at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida has been postponed. The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) decided to postpone the show in wake of the uncertainties due to the pandemic and to ensure the safety of exhibitors, visitors and stakeholders involved in the exhibition.
The new dates for the next edition of Auto Expo – The Motor Show will be announced, taking into consideration the Covid situation and in alignment with the OICA calendar of global auto shows. According to SIAM there are inherent risks due to the apprehension of a possible third wave and to organize a show of such grand scale, the association needs time, at least one year. As the B2C show is likely to attract record footfall of visitors, maintaining social distancing will be extremely difficult.
Meanwhile, the Automotive Components Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA) also deferred its biennial Components Expo which was set to be organized in tandem with the motor show at Pragati Maidan. Speaking about the decision to postpone the show, Deepak Jain, President, ACMA said, “The component industry has to be aligned with the vehicle industry. The Auto Expo is a very prestigious event and hence the Components Show will also need to be postponed.”
New dates for the Components Expo will be announced later once the Covid situation is cleared and the environment becomes conducive to organize shows. The Auto Expo and the Components Expo will be rescheduled, in alignment with the OICA calendar of global auto shows.
