The first edition of National Coal Conclave & Exhibition 2022 was held in New Delhi based on the theme of ‘Indian coal sector-sustainable mining towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat’. The event saw a conglomeration of policymakers and stakeholders to determine the future direction of India’s coal sector. Addressing the audience at the Conclave, the minister said that coal dispatch to the power sector has increased 16.7 percent over last year (April-Sept) to 356 MT and India is prepared to meet rising global coal demand.
He launched Coal India Ltd’s 2nd tranche of closed and discontinued mines at the conclave and stated that reopening these mines would boost India’s coal production. In addition, an agreement signing ceremony for the development and production of coal blocks was held, and an agreement was signed for a total of ten coal mines that were auctioned during previous tranches.
