Kerala Finance Minister Gives Positive Nod to the SME Sector

The 41st edition of the India International Trade Fair (IITF) - an annual magnum
opus of the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) is ongoing at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. During the inaugural function, Shri KN Balagopal, Finance Minister of Kerala, said, β€œThe Kerala government aims to create nearly 6 million new SMEs and 1 lakh entrepreneurs this year to enhance the reach of Kerala based flavor and products.” He also shared how Kerala has unique products based on tourism, sport, and local artisans that needed to be supported at such trade fairs.

Added he further that while it is easy to produce an event, the true challenge lies in marketing it correctly. In this backdrop he urged Smt Anupriya Patel, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry to provide a platform for SMEs to showcase their products and services and market them nationally. β€œIt is easy to produce something. Marketing is a difficult job. We need more fairs to market our local products. We want to request the Union Minister to set up such trade fairs in various parts of the country.”
