India International Jewellery Show ongoing at BIEC
After a gap of 20 months of having no shows, Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) got off to a great re-start with its first major exhibition at the venue – the India International Jewellery Show (IIJS) Premiere 2021.
Organized by the Gems & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) from September 15 - 19, 2021, the exhibition was inaugurated by Smt Anupriya Patel, Hon’ble Minister of State, Commerce & Industry, Government of India in the presence of Sri Murugesh Nirani, Hon’ble Minister for Large and Medium Scale Industries, Government of Karnataka, Sri P Ravi Kumar, Chief Secretary, Government of Karnataka, Dr E V Ramana Reddy, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Commerce and Industries, Government of Karnataka and Sri S Suresh Kumar, Joint Secretary, Department of Commerce & Industry, Government of India.
Speaking on the occasion, Smt Patel said that the gems and jewellery industry contributes to around 7 percent to India’s GDP with around $43 billion exports. Expressing his thoughts Sri Murugesh Nirani said that Karnataka will extend all possible support to gems and jewellery industry to set up their units in an exclusive park which is being set up in Gulbarga. Colin Shah, Chairman, GJEPC said that this was the largest edition of IIJS with around 1300 exhibitors and over 18,000 visitors registered till the first day of the show. Expressing his views on re-start of exhibitions at BIEC, V Anbu, Director General & CEO, Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers’ Associaton (IMTMA) and BIEC said, “We are pleased that the organizer of IIJS is holding a trade show at BIEC which will boost trade performance of the sector as well as lead to a good momentum towards re-start of exhibitions in India.”
