IEIA hopeful of an impetus announcement for exhibitions sector

Indian exhibition Industry Association (IEIA), has been closely engaging with various Ministries of the Govt of India including PMO, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Tourism and DPIIT for advocating the need of impetus for the exhibitions sector in India. IEIA had earlier submitted its representation to the Govt. requesting relief and stimulus measures for sustenance and earliest revival of the sector. With trade shows in Q1 either being postponed or cancelled, the exhibition industry has suffered an estimated loss of INR 3570 crores due to the impact of COVID 19. IEIA has also submitted an draft exit strategy to the Ministry of Commerce for the opening up of the exhibitions in India in a phased manner align the industry with governments’ plan for controlling further spread of the disease in the country. IEIA shall also be submitting a SOP to the government for conduct of exhibitions in a safe and secure manner.

Mr. S. Balasubramanian, President, IEIA stated, “ Exhibitions are the business enabler sector and have the power to ensure fast recovery of the economy of the country. A Stimulus for the sector will facilitate support for the stakeholders to recover from the huge losses being currently faced by them and thereby make way for revival of many other sectors through the conduct of exhibitions”.

With its continuous engagement with the Govt. counterparts, IEIA is hopeful of an impetus announcement for the exhibitions sector for earliest revival of the exhibitions sector in India.
