ICCA Asia Pacific Chapter announces new leadership for 2020-2022
The International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) Asia Pacific Chapter has announced a new Executive Committee (EXCO) line up for the 2020-2022 term. The new team was elected through an electoral process carried out March 6-31 2020.
Noor Hamid, Regional Director, Asia Pacific, said, βAs the Secretariat, I congratulate these candidates for volunteering to take the lead in championing the Chapter. I would also like to place on record my grateful appreciation to the past EXCO, Jason Yeh, Outgoing Chair and current ICCA first Vice-President; Keiko Nishimoto and Anna Case, former Deputy Chairs who made a meaningful impact and supported the growth of the Asia Pacific chapter. The new EXCO are here to continue that legacy and we look forward to working with the new leadership to serving the ICCA Asia Pacific community.β
Ashwin Gunasekeran, CEO Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) Malaysia, who currently heads the ICCA Malaysia Committee, now takes on the role of Chair. He will be supported by Keiko Nishimoto, Research Fellow Kyoto University Graduate School of Management Japan, who was re-elected as Deputy Chair/Treasurer, alongside Eric Abramson, International Project Director Guangzhou Yuexiu International Congress Center China, as co-Deputy Chair.
Gunasekeran said he was βhonouredβ to be elected as the Chair for the ICCA Asia Pacific Executive Committee. βI look forward to forging ahead with a whole series of initiatives with the EXCO and ICCA Asia Pacific Office so together we can continue to grow as a collective voice of ICCA,β he said.
To date, the ICCA Asia Pacific Chapter consists of 289 member organisations in 16 countries and regions. Of ICCAβs 11 Chapters worldwide, the ICCA Asia Pacific Chapter represents the largest membership of all.
