Country wide large scale celebrations by IEIA to mark Global Exhibitions Day 2019

The Global Exhibitions Day (GED) was celebrated on 5th June 2019 in 90 countries across the globe, through awareness campaigns and various other activities with a motive to strengthen the exhibition industry worldwide.

In India, Indian Exhibition Industry Association, being the National Partner and also the global task force member for GED initiated by UFI, once again organised a 360 degrees coverage nation- wide campaign including celebrations and impactful activities across the country.

In its attempt to bring the exhibitions sector to the forefront in the eyes of all stakeholders and policy makers, IEIA which is the national apex body of the exhibition industry assembled the exhibition industry stakeholders including venues, organizers, service partners, students, local partners and public authorities in various regions to celebrate Global Exhibition Day through an array of national and local events, industry impact initiatives, online campaigns, talent promotion activities and many more.


In order to boost the spirit of unity and celebration of this special day for our industry, IEIA arranged GED branded T-shirts and caps for all its member organisations in the country, bringing up the wave of overwhelming passion and response by teams of the IEIA members in enthusiastically celebrating this day. Pictures of celebrations and activities stormed the social media platforms featuring the spirit of zeal and enthusiasm of the exhibition industry in India for this vibrant sector. A specially dedicated GED India page on Facebook has been created by IEIA to showcase the might of the Indian exhibition industry on the occasion of this special Global Exhibitions Day.

To further enhance and encourage the momentum in the country, IEIA also organised the #GED19 India Awards for the categories of the Best Industry Impact Award, Most Creative Activity, Highest Profile Online Activity and Best Talent Promotion activity in the country.

The country wide #GED19 campaign included unparalleled celebrations across more than 200 member organisations’ offices in one country on the same day !!!!

A special webinar was also organised by IEIA for its members as an educational and talent promotion initiative as IEIA’s contribution to strengthen the exhibition industry in India.

Special collective celebrations were held at HITEX and India Expo Centre & Mart wherein industry professionals and stakeholders gathered to jointly celebrate the Global Exhibitions Day.

A knowledge sharing session and Job fair was organised at HITEX Exhibition Centre, Hyderabad by featuring interactive sessions with future professionals on career opportunities in exhibitions and events industries, knowledge walk and live demonstration of exhibition business.

The celebrations at India Expo Centre & Mart, Greater Noida included panel discussions by Industry experts which was followed by Tree Plantation drive by the attendees and special guests.

Similar tree plantation drive was also carried out at various locations under the #GED19 campaign by IEIA as a contribution towards the environment on this special day which also coincided with the World Environment Day.

Many innovative programs, online campaigns, e-waste awareness campaign, talent hunt, cricket match, rap song etc were also organised by IEIA members to promote the awareness of the exhibition industry in the country.

Few innovative activities included that by UBM India by spreading the word of the exhibitions industry, by way of organising workshop on best practices like safety and health, by spreading the cause of exhibitions in a fun and memorable manner through the rap song that impacted a lot of youngsters, and by ensuring that the industry always finds a stream of passionate youngsters who have what it takes to make a mark. Along with this an ‘I-pledge’ activity was also organised by each team member provided with a special wrapped Tulsi sapling, wherein they had to pledge to take care of the sapling and grow it in their house, the way they are helping to grow the exhibitions industry.

HITEX promoted exhibition industry as a lucrative career option among the young professionals and college students. The objective was to create an interactive platform for young professionals and students to interact with the Exhibition Industry Veterans and understand various careers options, industry dynamics of the exhibition industry through Interactive & Educational Sessions, Live Demonstrations  of various  function of the exhibition, Job Fair, High Tea and Networking Dinner.

Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India Pvt Ltd listed job openings to attract many aspirants from both inside and outside the industry and nurture the skills they excel in. A video to highlight every sector covered by the exhibition industry showcasing its diverse nature was created and shared across the social media platforms, along with e-waste awareness campaign.

RE Rogers India Pvt Ltd celebrated GED19 with an objective to spread the awareness of Global Exhibition Day, to create awareness of the Industry to as many as people who are really strangers to the exhibition Industry. And to pass on the message that we are also an integral of “Growing Economy of India” covered major monuments of India to make it more evident for awareness of GED. Followed by the participation in cleanliness drive at Mumbai and the participation in Delhi on World Environment Day for Tree Plantation. Visited many show organisers office such as UBM India, MMI India, PlastIndia Foundation, All India Plastics Manufactures Association, Interface Data Design, Messe Frankfurt to make sure the GED is witnessed throughout.

Another innovative celebration of was done by MEX exhibitions by creating a promotional outdoor activity with a 100 feet banner to showcase GED celebrations on a larger scale. A video showcasing the importance of exhibitions was also created to generate awareness among the corporate world about the benefits of participating in trade shows. A special awareness campaign about the Animal Welfare and Exhibition Industry in India was also carried out.

The Indian Exhibition industry Association is committed to promote the exhibitions sector as the most important marketing medium. IEIA supports #GED19. Looking forward for the next year’s Global Exhibition Day to celebrate with bigger initiatives.
